Local Running Routes - Santa Monica
By Special K • Apr 19th, 2006 • Category: Training TipsIn town visiting or just looking for a change of scenery for you daily runs? Check out these three running routes in Santa Monica. All three loops begin and end at the totem pole located at Ocean Avenue and Adelaide Drive.
6 miles - San Vicente Boulevard: From the totem pole at Ocean Avenue and Adelaide Drive run north on the grassy, coral-tree-shaded median of San Vicente Boulevard. Pass the beautiful residential neighborhood of Brentwood. Turn around at Bundy Drive after passing the country club. Return to the start.
4 miles - Ocean Avenue: From the totem pole, follow the hard-packed dirt and sand path in Palisades Park, offering beautiful vistas of the beach and ocean. Turn around at the Santa Monica Pier and return to the start.
5 miles - Rustic Canyon: This scenic route gains and loses 500 feet in elevation. From the totem pole, follow Ocean Avenue across Entrada Drive to East Channel Road. Turn left on Amalfi Drive. Take Upper Mesa Road to Mesa Road. Turn right on Latimer Road, passing Rustic Canyon Park. At the cul-de-sac, run through the gate and over the bridge to Rustic Creek Lane. Turn right on Sunset Boulevard and Amalfi Drive. Return to the start.
